Force & torque sensors

Sensing forces and torque are useful for most of mechatronic applications and detection systems, but are not always easy to integrate into the applications, especially when they relate to moving or vibrating parts, rotating shaft, etc.

Using its expertise in magnetic effects and in smart materials (piezoelectrics, magnetostrictives, magnetoelastics, LC resonance), Cedrat technologies has developed various force, stress and torque sensors (receiving transducers) for its customers, which meet stringent requirements from applications refered above.

Examples of sensors below includes the CTS contactless torque sensor developed for cars with PSA, a contactless magnetic force sensor for chuck and pallet workholding systems in Machine Tools, a  magnetostrictive force sensor developed for prestressed concrete health monitoring with EDF and Freyssinet.

Other developments of CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES in sensing and measuring include strain gauges sensors, piezoelectric load cells, magnetic or piezoelectric energy harvesting, magnetic field sensors, etc.

To know more about our sensors see also our catalogue of magnetic actuators and sensors, our acoustic & magnetic detection system and our related publications on sensors.

Contactless Torque Sensor: CTS    technological leaflet   request for information
Description: The CTS Contactless Torque Sensor measures the torque and the rotation speed of either a stationary axle or a rotating shaft without contact. This technology can be cost effective because of automotive industry heritage.
Applications: Automotive, Machine Tools, Motors, Gear Box ...
Status: Prototype
Magnetostrictive Stress Sensor    technological leaflet   request for information
Description: This Contactless Stress Sensor uses the Magnetostriction (magnetoelasticity) of the steel part or cable where it is located to measure the static & dynamic forces. It was developped for Freyssinet and EDF, for prestressed concrete monitoring.
Applications: Civil Engineering Structure Health Monitoring (Bridge), NDT, Rotating shaft ...
Status: Prototype
Contactless magnetic force sensor       request for information
Description: This contactless sensing technique allows to measure the magnetic force between the electromagnet and the moving part subjected to attraction forces. It is robust and can be used typically in magnetic chucks.
Applications: Magnetic chuck for machine tools, electromagnets
Status: Proof of concept
